The Best Kept Secret? Secret Cloud House Holidays

22nd October 2017

I’m not even sure how I found Secret Cloud House Holidays but I’m glad I did!
I remember wanting to treat Sam to a trip away for his birthday and our wedding anniversary. We needed to have some time on our own, to sleep and to be us. We hadn’t been away from the children since before Jessica came into our lives. With her being one, it seemed the perfect time to get away!

First Impressions Count

I was impressed from the point of booking. Once the deposit was paid I was sent a confirmation email. Included with this was some really useful information such as what was included, what to remember to bring, local shops and attractions. There was so much information, for me being a planner this was perfect!

All the Best Laid Plans…..

The original plan was to leave in the morning, take our time, grab some lunch and arrive there about 4pm. Then Jessica became sick the week leading up to us leaving and couldn’t go to nursery. The new plan was to leave at about 1.30 – 2pm so we would arrive 4.30 – 5pm. We had let Catherine and Ian know when we planned to arrive, they asked in advance so they could get everything, including the hot tub, ready for your arrival.

It was actually a bit later that we left; I had forgotten to pack swimwear for the hot tub and I was not missing out on that!
We were then looking to arrive closer to 6pm. I messaged Catherine to let her know.

The drive was a nightmare as we had a SatNav determined to take us down the worst roads. It was 6.35pm that we arrived. I was fully expecting no one to be there, it does say in the confirmation that Catherine and Ian don’t live on site. So when we was greeted by Ian it was a welcomed surprise.

Ian met us and showed us to our yurt. We stayed in the Bilberry yurt.

It was already set up for us and it looked amazing. All the candles and fairy lights, I instantly felt the stress of the travelling just easing. Ian showed us where everything was that we needed and then showed us how to use the burners. Once we were happy he left us to it.

You are given a welcome pack of bacon, sausages, eggs, bread, milk, coffee and tea. We decided we were going to eat that for dinner rather than head out for food in the dark. There was plenty of bread so we had toast in the morning.
We had dressing gowns, towels, blankets, candles, everything that we needed.

Catherine and Ian have thought of everything. Whenever we said, “oh it would be good to have…..”, we had it. All the little touches. We ended up eating in the lodge more than we thought. We actually made a casserole and cooked it in the oven of the log burner.

The Perfect Secret Getaway

This is the perfect escape. I had enough signal for calls and texts but no internet, no TV, no screens. It was just what we needed.
There isn’t any electric in the yurts but there is in the washroom where you can charge your phone in lockers. There is a hairdryer and straighteners that you can use as well.

That brings me on to showers! I haven’t stayed on many sites but the ones I have the showers have been questionable but these were amazing. Lots of heat and power. I could have stayed in there for ages!

If you’re looking for a great getaway as a couple, this is perfect.
If you’re going on a girly holiday, this would be great.

Order the Bakewell Pie and the chocolates – they are A-MAZ-ING!

I cannot recommend Secret Cloud House Holidays enough. I was planning on a spa break next year with the girls, now I want to get them here. It has everything, hot tub, spa treatments, beautiful scenery and is a great location for sight-seeing. I can’t wait to go back!

Have you been to Secret Cloud House Holidays?

**We paid for the trip ourselves, all views are out own.
