A Monthly Review; January 2018

6th February 2018

It feels like a long time ago that I last wrote one of these posts. With the end of year review and then January feeling like it has dragged on has meant I haven’t actually spoken about my stats for a couple of months. I like to review my progress to see what I need to focus on in the coming months. But, before I start on the stats let me fill you in on what’s been happening with us……

The Family

January always feels a bit lacklustre. The grey, dull rainy days that follow after such a vibrant, sparkly Christmas makes the month feel long. Whilst January has felt a lot like this, it has also been pretty exciting for us. The biggest and most exciting (and nerve-wracking) thing that is happening to us is, we are selling our house! It has been our intention for a long time to move, especially after Jessica was born and with us being in a 2 bed home. Also, with Reuben going to school in September it would work better if we were closer to the chosen schools, and my work. So, the house is officially up for sale AND the first viewing was taken within 24 hours of being on the market which shocked me.

This in itself has meant that we have been very busy this month and will be for the next few months. But it doesn’t stop there!! Oh no. Those that follow me on Instagram will have seen my Friday night post with my very deserved glass of wine. Not only was I sorting out the house sale, but I had three passport applications to complete. Made errors on them all so ended up completing about six, put that onto a stressful week at work and I was sobbing!! Anyway that’s all now finished and calm has been restored.

All Things Me

I don’t talk about me very much, I don’t know why. OK, so I include myself in the family chat but actually talking about me, well it’s rare. Well, if you remember, I said that this year was going to be the year I looked after me more. More than me time. I was going to treat myself better in order to give more to my children and to my husband. And, well, that means talking about me more!

So this month I have started a positive notes jar. I try to write a post memory down from the day and pop it in the jar. Then when we get to the end of the year I will have lots of lovely memories to look back over. I’ve not done it every day but still I have done it most days and it has improved my mood!!

I’ve also been doing 10 minutes of pilates a day. I didn’t do it last week as my week was nightmare-ish, although thinking back it probably would have helped with my stress levels. I find it so easy to ‘not have time’ to exercise but ten minutes feels much more achievable and on the whole, I have been really good at sticking to it (mostly).

The Blog

I took the Christmas period off and it was very much-needed so I could relax and spend time with my family. I’m not going to lie, when it came to getting back to ‘normal’, whatever that is, I struggled. It felt really hard juggling work, the children, blogging and spending time looking after myself. I feel like I am getting back into the swing of things now and that I am in a better place with my routine.

I decided that I was going to start a new series on the blog. This is a “Share Your Story” series. I am inviting, not just bloggers, but readers as well to share their story. It can be anything, weight loss, starting a business, to miscarriage and raising awareness. I want people to be able to share what is important to them. If you would like to take part then do contact me.

I kicked off the year with a fab review and giveaway of some Indigo Herbs Super Greens. This has been an easy way to help me with my ‘healthier me’ goals by adding a spoon to my everyday soups and casseroles.

The start of January also saw me become a brand ambassador for What 2 Buy 4 Kids. We have been really excited about this as we love their shop. They have so much choice, from bath toys to pull alongs, train sets to science kits. There is so much choice and they cater from birth to 12 years old! Not only do they have a great selection of quality toys but they also care about your whole shopping experience. Do pop over and take a look, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!! AND if you did fancy treating your little person to a toy then use my special code PICKLE218 and you’ll receive 10% off!**

Finally, I have got round to setting up my newsletter. This is sent out every two weeks and will make sure that you don’t miss out on the hot posts of the fortnight or any giveaways that I have running. Don’t forget to sign up below if you want to make sure you don’t miss out!
