I enjoy reading but it is something that I haven’t done in a while.
However as one of my goals for this year is to read one book a month, I have picked up my Kindle again and I have just finished my first book of the year.
Here is my Book Review.
by Leighann Dobbs
Lexi owns her own bakery and lives in her Grandmother’s house.
Everything looks peachy until she becomes number one suspect in her ex-boyfriends murder case. The detective on her case just happens to be her very attractive next door neighbour.
With the help of her Grandmother and bakery assistant, Lexi attempts to piece together the clues of the case in order to prove her innocence.
As she spends more time with the detective she starts to become more attracted to him. But nothing can happen until she is proven innocent.
This is a short story, and with that there is lack of character building.
You learn who the characters are but not their back story, so instantly there is a lack of connection.
The story-line is one that is easy to follow but it isn’t captivating. It certainly isn’t a page turner which is why it has taken me so long to read it.
The whole time I was reading the book I was thinking “well that would never happen”. I know books are fiction and are read for enjoyment but I do find it frustrating when the story-line strays so far away from the truth, especially when it is partly a murder mystery.
If you’re looking for a quick book to read perhaps beside the pool on holiday then this could be the book for you. If you want a book with a bit of depth and is gripping then don’t bother.
I give this a star rating of 3/5 – an OK read.
