*We were gifted these items in exchange for an honest review. All thought are my own.
We have been lucky enough to work with Wicked Uncle before. I love using their site because it so easy to use and they have sooooo many different toys that it really does cater for all children. Up until recently they only catered for younger children but not any more. Wicked Uncle have now made a completely new section called “Big Kidz” aimed at well everyone over 13! And I mean everyone! So much so, I managed to find something for our date night!
Date Night Games from Big Kidz
When you think of Wicked Uncle you probably don’t think that there are games on the site that would entertain adults. There are!
I was recently asked to take a look at the Big Kidz range and pick some items to try out. I spent a long time checking through the selection. There is so much choice. Do I get something for my niece or nephew? Perhaps stock up on items for when the kids are older? So many decisions! Then I came across an Escape Room game AND strawberry cheesecake popcorn! Result! This would be perfect for us to have a ‘screen free’ date night!
I’ve not tried an Escape Room – YET, but it is on my list of things to try out. When I saw this game I had to try it.
Suitable from 12 years up, it suggests the game should take 1-2 hours and is suitable for 1 – 4 players. In my mind this should have been a quick game; ‘child’s play’ (poor pun, I’m sorry) for two grown adults. It wasn’t. We did escape! Can you imagine the shame if we hadn’t? But it took us 2 hours and 9 minutes, so just a bit more than the maximum amount of time it suggested. We also used 7 help cards. Both of these things combined meant we rated at 2 stars. Out of TEN!!! (I blame the Prosecco)
I’m not going to give anything away about this game. I will say it is a single play game as you will cut and scribble your way through the clues and riddles. We really enjoyed playing this and I would definitely look to buy another game like this.
You have to have snacks on date night – it is an unwritten rule. Or it is in our house anyway!
Both Sam and I have a sweet tooth. We both love popcorn and we both love cheesecake! So this was an easy choice for us.
Joe and Seph’s Strawberry Cheesecake is handmade in London using all natural ingredients and it is tasty!
I was surprised by how creamy it tasted, just as you would expect a cheesecake to be.
The strawberry flavour was very subtle. This is where my husband and I disagreed. For him this was the perfect flavour, for me I would have liked the strawberry to be a bit punchier.
It was nice. For me if the flavour had a bit more kick I would love it but that’s my taste buds and I’ve been told before I like flavours that are really strong. If you prefer milder flavours then you’ll love it.
…… And Something for the Kids
Since having kids I find that I am incapable of going out and just buying myself something without buying one (or both) of the children something. Guess what, this was no different.
To be honest, I saw the Jellyfish Tank and I thought it looked awesome. I had to see how it worked and what it was like. As a kid I loved my lava lamp and I thought that this mood lamp was probably a trendy version. Something to just sit and watch for ages!! With me being in my 30’s I probably can’t get away with items like this in my bedroom anymore. So, kill two birds with one stone. Buy something for the boy AND I can then get to see how this thing works.
I loved it. I mean Reuben loved it.
It is really easy to put together and he has spent ages just watching the jellyfish bob around.
It’s hard to describe so I will show you….. (disclaimer, sound is an effect and the tank doesn’t actually make this noise)
So, this is just a small selection of the things that we found under the Big Kidz section. There are some other games on there that I think I might take a look at – I like the idea of having more evenings screen free!! Let me know what you think if you pop over!
